Global digital payment platform provider

Project: Our Customer is an unicorn FCA-regulated FinTech company with a small Legal and Compliance Team dispersed across multiple jurisdictions and wanted to introduce its innovative payment products in new markets, including North America, Europe and Asia. The technology is new, and so the Customer wanted to ensure that its business would be in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The Customer also needed additional support for its compact in-house team tasked to work on a wide range of general commercial and corporate matters in support of its business operations in multiple countries.

Global Payments platform

Project: Our Customer is a unicorn start-up with a small legal team working across multiple jurisdictions, and wanted to launch its new product in Asia where the rules and regulations vary from country to country. The Customer needed not only specialists with payment expertise in Asia but also additional capacity to meet its tight deadlines.

Solution: KorumLegal provided a team of consultants, with payment, transactional, corporate and legal project management skills. Project: Our Customer wanted to enter into a new adjacent business stream where it had limited prior touch points, with potential legal and regulatory risks. They needed expert legal and compliance support urgently. Had the Customer not come to us, it would have to either employ internally (which could have delayed the project for months) or use big law firm or management consultancy company (which would incur hefty cost).

Blockchain platform

Project: Our Customer has a fast-growing business but an in-house legal team limited in capacity, which was required to support a large business initiative involving investments in 50 companies. This needed to be completed in tight deadlines, occupying a lot of the legal team’s capacity.

Solution: KorumLegal optimised a team of corporate-trained legal consultants managed by an experienced senior corporate lawyer, to free up the internal legal team and work directly with the internal business. The team provided the Customer with legal assistance and due diligence of the target entities, negotiated the investment documentation and managed the closing process. The solution was delivered virtually with progressive reports to the legal team regularly. As a result, the Customer's legal team could concentrate on more value-adding strategic work.
