IHC Kuala Lumpur 2026: The Agility Margin

On 3 September, KorumLegal was proud to sponsor the Kuala Lumpur In-House Community Congress 2026 at the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur. The Congress brought together in-house counsel from across Malaysia and the wider region for a day of practical discussion on the pressures and opportunities facing legal functions today.

Coming just a day after our Singapore GC Roundtable, the event gave us the chance to take the Agility Margin theme to a broader audience and see how the conversation translated across markets.

Resilience by design

Our session focused on a question that resonates with almost every in-house team: how do you build a legal function that can cope with constant change? Rather than treating disruption as an exception, we argued that legal teams should plan for it as a normal operating condition. That means building flexibility into how work is resourced, being clear about where internal expertise adds the most value, and using external and flexible support strategically rather than reactively.

The role of AI and alternative delivery

The rapid development of AI is changing expectations of what legal teams can achieve, and how quickly. The session explored how in-house leaders can approach AI with confidence, focusing on the problems it can genuinely solve and the governance needed to use it responsibly. We also looked at how alternative legal service providers fit into this picture, offering access to specialist skills, flexible capacity and technology without the overheads of traditional models.

Why events like IHC matter

Conferences like the In-House Community Congress are one of the best ways for us to hear directly from the people we work with. The conversations in the room, and in the breaks between sessions, give us a clear picture of what legal teams across APAC are dealing with day to day, and help shape how we continue to develop our services.
